Plus Inclusion is an innovation project to increase effectiveness within the Workers Compensation system in New South Wales and was funded by the icare Foundation (the social investment arm of icare NSW – the state funder of workers insurance).
Working with injured workers, along with case managers, scheme agents, nominated treating doctors and icare staff themselves, the project aims to improve the post-injury experience and outcomes of injured workers with language barriers through a design-led process of enquiry, prototyping and testing.
The result delivers tools and methods, as well as tailored health literacy and return to work resources for the project’s three targeted language and cultural groups of Korean (Hangul), Mandarin and Cantonese background workers injured in the workplace.
Plus Inclusion was one of eight projects selected for funding by the icare Foundation (NSW) from among 100+ submissions. As part of their “WorkUp fund,” the icare Foundation made a $5 million social investment to support injured workers to overcome complex barriers in returning to work.
