Primary & Community Care Services (PCCS) is proud to announce the launch of VillagePlus, a free, 12-week maternal wellbeing program designed to support new and expectant parents in the Northern Sydney region. More than just a parenting program, VillagePlus is about rebuilding the village around families when they need it most.
Funded by the Northern Sydney Primary Health Network (PHN) through the Australian Government’s PHN Program, VillagePlus uses a social prescribing model to connect parents with meaningful supports across their community — from peer support and parenting programs to health services and social groups.
“Becoming a parent is one of life’s biggest changes — and it doesn’t come with a manual,” said a PCCS spokesperson. “VillagePlus is about walking alongside parents during this time, helping them find connection, confidence, and practical support. We’re here to make sure no one goes it alone.”
A Program Built for Real Life
VillagePlus is tailored to meet families where they’re at — emotionally, socially, and practically. Participants are paired with trained link workers who take a whole-family approach and help them:
- Join new parent groups, baby massage classes, pram walking clubs and postnatal yoga
- Access local playgroups, parenting classes and breastfeeding support
- Connect with cultural and community groups for shared experience and belonging
- Navigate Centrelink, childcare subsidies, maternal health services and other government supports
- Set personal goals and build a support plan that reflects their unique needs
Whether someone is feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or simply unsure where to turn next, VillagePlus helps cut through the noise and reconnect with community in ways that make a real difference.
Who Can Access the Program?
VillagePlus is open to adults living in the Northern Sydney PHN region who are:
- Pregnant or up to 12 months postpartum
- Facing social, emotional, or practical challenges during the perinatal period
- Likely to benefit from increased social participation and connection
- Able to engage with local community-based services
There is no cost to participate, and no referral is required — although GPs and maternal health providers are encouraged to share this program with patients who may benefit.
