Register NOW for the Mind Team Challenge 2014

Local residents, social and community groups are being invited to register now for the inaugural Mind Team Challenge 2014, a brain health challenge for the local community.

The Mind Team Challenge 2014 is a fun 3-week brain health challenge with a final
social event on Wednesday 18 June, 10am to 12pm in Hornsby.

Participants are encouraged to gather their friends, family or community groups and enter a team of between six and eight adults in the challenge.

Organised by local health organisation, Northern Sydney Medicare Local, in partnership with Alzheimers Australia NSW, the Mind Team Challenge is about learning the best ways to keep your brain healthy and to live life to its best.

Northern Sydney Medicare Local Health Promotion Officer, Karen Solomons, said that participants in the challenge will be sure to enjoy themselves whilst learning about brain health.

The Mind Team Challenge is a great way to incorporate some brain health strategies into your daily life whilst having fun with other likeminded individuals.Karen Solomons said.

Alzheimers Australia NSW CEO the Hon. John Watkins commented on theimportance of keeping your brain active, being fit and healthy and looking after your heart, which can help to reduce the risk of developing dementia in later life.

Id encourage all Australians to take up the challenge to do something for their brain health today, Mr Watkins said.

Being brain healthy throughout our lives doesnt have to be difficult and small steps can go a long way.
Alzheimers Australias brain health program, Your Brain Matters has five simple steps to maximise a persons brain health:
1. Look after your heart
2. Be physically active
3. Mentally challenge your brain
4. Follow a healthy diet
5. Enjoy social activity

Participants can register before Friday 9 May, 2014. You can register on behalf ofyour community group or a team of friends.
