Empowering You With Tailored Mental Health Support
Pregnancy and the postpartum period can bring unexpected challenges, including perinatal depression. A mental health coach can offer support and guidance to help navigate this sensitive time, providing strategies to cope with emotions and adjust to parenthood.
A coach can help identify and manage the symptoms of perinatal depression. This involves understanding the emotional changes that occur during pregnancy and after childbirth and recognising the signs of depression. By gaining insight into these symptoms, you can begin to address them more effectively.
A coach also offers strategies to cope with the emotional ups and downs of this period. These might include mindfulness exercises, relaxation techniques, and methods to manage stress and anxiety. These tools can help you maintain emotional balance and well-being.
Adjusting to parenthood is another critical area where a coach can provide support. This might involve developing practical skills for managing the demands of a new baby, establishing routines, and finding time for self-care.
Overall, working with a coach can provide the support and guidance needed to navigate perinatal depression, cope with emotions, and adjust to the new realities of parenthood, leading to a healthier and more fulfilling experience during this transformative time.

Embarking on a journey toward personal growth and well-being often means confronting various obstacles along the way. Here are some of the common concerns where a coach can offer invaluable support and guidance:
Anxiety Symptoms: Dealing with persistent feelings of anxiety can be overwhelming. A coach can provide strategies to manage anxiety symptoms, develop coping mechanisms, and cultivate a sense of calm and control.
Depression Symptoms: Coping with depression can make even the simplest tasks feel insurmountable. A coach can help you navigate through depression symptoms, offering tools to improve mood, build resilience, and rediscover joy in life.
Chronic Pain Management: Living with chronic pain can significantly impact your quality of life. A coach can work with you to develop holistic approaches to pain management, incorporating techniques to reduce discomfort and enhance overall well-being.
Worry & Stress: Excessive worry and stress can take a toll on both mental and physical health. A coach can assist you in identifying sources of stress, developing effective coping mechanisms, and fostering resilience in the face of life’s uncertainties.
Problem Solving: When faced with difficult decisions or complex situations, a coach can provide a fresh perspective and help you develop practical solutions. Through structured problem-solving techniques, you can gain clarity and confidence in your decision-making process.
Interpersonal Skills and Communication: Effective communication is essential for building healthy relationships and navigating social interactions. A coach can help you enhance your interpersonal skills, improve communication patterns, and foster deeper connections with others.
Practical Approaches to Mental Health: From mindfulness practices to cognitive-behavioral techniques, a coach can introduce you to practical approaches to enhance your mental health and well-being. Together, you can explore tailored strategies to promote self-care and resilience.
Self-Esteem & Confidence: Struggling with low self-esteem can undermine your sense of worth and hinder personal growth. A coach can support you in building self-confidence, challenging self-limiting beliefs, and embracing your unique strengths and qualities.
Navigating mental health challenges requires tailored support that fits individual needs. While our low-intensity program offers valuable assistance, certain factors may indicate that it’s not the most suitable option for everyone.
Trauma or Traumatic Events: If you’ve experienced past traumatic events that still significantly impact your daily life, our low-intensity program may not be the best fit. Issues stemming from trauma, such as abuse, domestic violence, PTSD, or childhood trauma, often require more intensive support to address underlying issues effectively.
Severe Mental Health Problems: Certain diagnoses, including bipolar disorder, mood disorders, schizophrenia, or eating disorders, may necessitate higher intensity supports beyond what our low-intensity program provides.
Comorbidity: If you have multiple mental health concerns alongside other significant issues, such as substance abuse or physical health problems, addressing these may be necessary before engaging in low-intensity supports.
Risk: If you’re actively experiencing suicidal or self-harm thoughts with a plan or intent to act on them, our low-intensity supports may not be suitable for your current needs. Your safety and well-being are our top priority, and we encourage seeking immediate support from appropriate resources.
Motivation for Accessing the Program: It’s essential that individuals engaging in our program are genuinely motivated to address their mental health concerns and work towards their goals. If your primary motivation is external, such as fulfilling a court requirement, your engagement in the program may be compromised.
If you are experiencing any of the above, please contact the national Head to Health mental health service.
Once a week, you’ll meet with your Coach to talk about how things are going. You’ll also have the option to schedule follow-up sessions to check in on your progress and make adjustments as needed.
During your first session (which usually lasts for about an hour), your Coach will take the time to get to know you better. You’ll chat about the challenges you’re facing and choose one or two issues to focus on. From there, you’ll create a problem statement that clearly defines what you’re dealing with. Then, your Coach will work with you to create a personalised plan that includes practical steps you can take to tackle the issues at hand. Your Coach can even help link you into other supports and services you may need, especially helping address challenges around some of the social determinants of health.
If you need more support than the program can offer, your Coach will be happy to help you find a more appropriate service that meets your needs.
