Take control of your health at the mall

04 February 2014

Hornsby residents can learn about the benefits of having a personally controlled eHealth record and get registration assistance at Hornsby Mall on 12 February.

The eHealth team from Northern Sydney Medicare Local will operate a mobile eHealth registration stand to help local residents register for a free electronic eHealth record.

The eHealth record is a national health initiative that enables a persons health information -including medical checks, current medications and prescriptions, allergy or childhood immunisations - to be safely accessed whenever needed.

Those who would benefit most from having an eHealth record include people with chronic or complex conditions, older Australians, people prescribed with multiple medications, parents with newborns and people who travel extensively within Australia.

Registration for an eHealth record is free and with the assistance of the eHealth team takes only a few moments. Please bring proof of identity (drivers licence and Medicare Card) on the day. The mobile registration stand will be held in the Hunter Street South precinct of Hornsby Mall commencing at 9.00am on Wednesday 12 February.

If you miss registering at Hornsby Mall, the Northern Sydney Medicare Local eHealth team is currently conducting registrations at local venues including hospitals throughout the Northern Sydney catchment area. To find out where assisted registrations are taking place contact Helen Purdy on 02 8599 2682.

Registration for an eHealth record is also available online, to register for an eHealth record or for more information visit www.ehealth.gov.au or call the Helpline on 1800 723 471.
