Want to make changes to your lifestyle so you can live well and be healthy?

The Health and Wellbeing Community Expo is a free community event that will provide health information, nutrition and fitness advice, entertainment and information on local health services at Eastwood Plaza, Rowe Street Eastwood, on Thursday 24 April from 11am-4pm.

A joint initiative between local health organisation, Northern Sydney Medicare Local, and Expo organisers, the Community Migrant Resource Centre (CMRC), the Expo brings together local Councils (City of Ryde, Hornsby Shire, Hunters Hill and Ku-ring-gai), the Northern Sydney Local Health District and large and small Community organisations to provide resources and information to improve the health and wellbeing of the community.

Commenting on the Expos purpose, Mr Paul Hussein, Director Community and Strategy, Northern Sydney Medicare Local said: as a local health organisation committed to nurturing a healthy community, the Health and Wellbeing Expo is a great way to showcase and connect residents to local health services and information.

Ms Melissa Monteiro, Executive Director for the Community Migrant Resource Centre (CMRC) welcomes this community partnership: The CMRC is committed to delivering health promotion activities and information to many of our migrant communities living in the Northern region of Sydney.

The opportunity to provide activities that complement existing professional health service programs can only benefit our local community, Ms Monteiro said.

At the Expo, community members will have the opportunity to learn about:
- Healthy food and exercise
- How to access local health services
- Specific services offered to communities
- Counselling and other support programs

The Expo will have interpreters (Persian, Mandarin, Cantonese and Tamil) to assist community members understand the range of information and services. Free health checks and advice from local health professionals will be available.
