The NSW Pain Management Taskforce, Ministry of Health 2012 reported that pain management in the primary health sector is patchy with different levels of skills, interest and education.
The report also recognised that the primary health care sector includes but is not limited to services delivered by GPs, practice nurses, allied health providers, Aboriginal health workers, pharmacists and dentists. It also highlighted opinion of primary health care clinicians, who described the primary health care sector as variable, fragmented and patchy.
NSML intends to set up a regional pain management network to address the issues raised within the report. We invite anyone with an interest in and experience of pain management, to connect with people with similar interest and experience, to evaluate pain services within our local area.
