Promotion of the NSW Patient Survey

The Bureau of Health Information (BHI) runs the NSW Patient Survey to find out about peoples experiences with the NSW healthcare system.

The surveys are posted to a random selection of people who have recently experienced hospital care. It ask questions about different aspects of care such as access and timeliness of care, the physical environment, safety and hygiene, communication and information, and whether patients were treated with respect and dignity.

The BHI has two surveys currently underway: Adult Admitted Patient Survey and Emergency Department Patient Survey. Both are ongoing surveys with survey questionaires sent out monthly.

To promote awareness of this survey program, BHI is seeking the involvement of GPs to encourage patients to complete and return the survey and inform them of available online options. There are also (free) communications resources such as A3 posters, brochures, and postcards in different languages.

To order these resources, please visit hereor contact Anna Sale at anna.sale@bhi.nsw.gov.au.

The first results of the 2013 survey are now available. For more information please visit the Bureau of Health Information (BHI).
