Preparing for emergencies in general practice

Preparing for emergencies in general practice

To assist practice staff in developing their own emergency response plan, the RACGP has developed the Emergency Response Planning Tool (ERPT). The ERPT is an online tool that provides a series of planning templates that, once completed, provide staff with a plan to assist them in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from an emergency. Practices can register to use ERPT here. Once registered, practices can start developing their tailored emergency response plan.

The RACGP are hosting monthly webinars to support practices to complete their own emergency plan using the ERPT. The webinars are designed to provide practice staff with an understanding of emergency planning and to provide an introduction on how to use the ERPT. Upcoming webinar dates, times and a link to register for these are as follows:

14 May, 2014 at 10:30am, register here
13 June, 2014 at 1:00pm, register here
15 July, 2014 at 2:00pm, register here

In addition to the webinars, there are a number of useful resources available in the ERPT, such as short video tutorials on how to complete the planning templates, a how to guide, and the RACGPs Managing Emergencies and Pandemics in General Practice Guide.

RACGP welcomes practice staff to email any enquiries about the ERPT through to erpt@racgp.org.au. For more information please contact the Primary Care Support Team at practice_support@nsml.com.au or phone 9477 8700.
