Orientation program for nurses new to general practice

The Australian Medicare Locals Alliance has produced an online Orientation Program to assist nurses who are making the move from working in a hospital or RACF setting to ageneral practice. This may also be used as an update for existing practice nurses.

The program includes an overview of primary health care and the Australian health care system; modules on professional practice and development; detailed modules on key areas of clinical care provision; management of clinical systems and, finally, a comprehensive section on collaborative practice and information management.

The cost of the course is $150 per student, it is a total of 12 modules and takes approximately 15 hours to complete.

The course outline can be found on the AML Alliance website.
