Online learning for non-clinical staff

'BeAWARE of warning signs of heart attack and stroke' is a support package for general practice developed by the Heart Foundation and National Stroke Foundation. 'BeAWARE' provides education for non-clinical staff to promptly identify patients entering the practice system (by phone or in person) with suspected warning signs of heart attack or stroke, and manage them accordingly

'BeAWARE' is free to all practices.

Online learning for Practice Nurses
Cardiovascular disease risk assessment and management for practice nurses -a free course for nurses from the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association.

This online learning program is based on the Guidelines for the management of absolute cardiovascular disease risk. This course summarises the key recommendations, explores the concept of risk factors versus absolute risk and builds confidence in using the online absolute cardiovascular disease risk calculator.

This course also introduces Heart Foundation programs and resources to support assessment and management and inspire practice changes to improve systematic assessment and management of your patients. The course is accessible to all nurses. Enrolment is free for APNA members. This activity has been endorsed by the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association according to approved criteria for 1.5 CPD hours.
