NSML's chronic pain network

NSML's chronic pain network

Chronic pain affects approximately 20 per cent of the population. Based on our research there is a gap in the system for adequate treatment for those in chronic pain at the primary care level. Evidence suggests that best practice for those with a chronic pain condition includes being treated by a multidisciplinary team.

We currently have more than 20 providers who have volunteered to be a part of the network and have expressed an interest to develop their skills further. We would like to recruit more GPs who have an interest in this field and/or who feel that their patients would benefit if they had more knowledge and support in this area.

The benefits of joining NSML's pain network includes:

  • Free training to build confidence in working with patients experiencing chronic pain
  • The opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team who is also trained in working with those in chronic pain
  • NSML is also exploring the possibility of funding ehealth and secure messaging programs for those in the network
