New Working With Children Check came into effect 15 June 2013

If you are an existing paid worker or a volunteer working with children, the new Working With Children check will be phased in according to your sector. You will be required to get the new Check during your sector's phase in dates.

The result of the Check is either a clearance to work with children for five years, or a bar against working with children. Cleared applicants are subject to ongoing monitoring, and relevant new records may lead to the clearance being revoked.

If you are already working with children you will need to get a check in 2017. The changes will be phased in for those who are working in the Northern Sydney health district during 2017. Here is the fact sheet for the phase-in schedule.

If you are starting a new paid job in child-related work, you must apply for the new Working With Children Check before you start work.

If you require additional assistance, please refer to the online tutorials, which will guide you step-by-step through the online form.
