Interactive version of the Sexual Health Competency Standards

Interactive version of the Sexual Health Competency Standards

Following the launch of the Sexual Health Competency Standards for primary health care nurses in April this year, STIPU was requested to develop an interactive version of the standards for the website.

These are now finalised and available at www.stipu.nsw.gov.au. The interactive version allows you to move between different sections of the standards and save to your desktop a copy of the standards that you can complete electronically.

To support the standards, two new additional documents have been developed. Assessor Guidelines which outlines the process for assessment against the sexual health competency standards for both the peer assessor and primary health care nurse and examples of the practice skills that the primary health care nurse is required to meet. These are available on the STIPU website here.

Finally, primary health care nurses have expressed an interest in undertaking a clinical attachment in their local sexual health service. STIPU have developed a resource outlining the step by step process to do this. This resource is available on the STIPU website here.

All of the resources have developed in collaboration with ASHM, APNA, ASHHNA, the PHCN Sexual Health Special Interest Group and other key stakeholders. Please share and circulate these new resources that aim to support and assist primary health care nurses in their sexual health role through your networks and to colleagues.
