Get Healthy at Work

Get Healthy at Work

Get Healthy at Work is a NSW Government initiative that will be available to businesses and workers across NSW from 1 July 2014. Brief Health Checks are one component of Get Healthy at Work and involve a free and confidential on-site assessment of a workers risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Workers assessed as being at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes (AUSDRISK score 12) will be given a referral letter to provide to their GP for further follow-up as required. Health practitioners can also send a copy of the referral letter directly to the GP.

If information about mental health issues is disclosed, workers can take a referral letter to their GP for follow-up to consider a mental health assessment and further support.

Workers will be offered assistance in locating a GP where they do not already have one through use of Medicare Local GP Lists or the National Health Services Directory. All workers at risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease will also be encouraged to consent to being contacted by the Get Healthy Information and Coaching Service for further lifestyle information and coaching.
