CBT based group therapy for carers of Children with Special Needs

This program has been designed to meet the emotional needs of carers, with the participants being guided through ways of developing their own support networks. The group addresses wellbeing and quality of life of utilising Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) skills.

CBT is an evidence-based, short term therapeutic process that focuses on problem solving techniques. it gives participants practical tools to implement changes in their lives, aiming to maximise their wellbeing and quality of life.

The group therapy program with include modules on:

  • Dealing with stigma
  • Communication skills
  • Assertiveness and boundaries
  • Life balance
  • Stress management
  • Dealing with feelings
  • Building networks
  • Keeping your relationship special

This is an 8 week cyclic program, which will run every school term.

Groups are composed of 6-10 individuals.

WHEN: Wednesdays from 10:00am - 11:30am (morning tea included)
